Let’s start with some of our results you shared with us!
Reason Couples Want to Elope: 22% Intimacy 78% Expenses/Stress
Places to Elope: 43% Tropical 57% Mountains
First Look with an Elopement 45% Of Course, 55% Keep the Tradition
Should I Still Hire a Planner? 71% Yes 29% No
Wait, should I hire a local planner and photographer that I love? Or, should I hire where I am planning to elope? If photos are important, put your investment in someone you know, you have met prior to booking and trust! Your planner and photographer are with you all day! Ask what their travel fees and expenses are during your meeting. Communication is key!
Best locations for engagement shoots: (She has listed her fave 25 places on her blog, check it out!) Rollins College is so large and has so many options for couples! A couples story can be told beautifully there. Winter Garden and any area by water are the next go tos! Water is tranquil and I see alot of my couples wanting to be near overgrown trees and water. We discuss themes, locations, outfits etc with couples prior to the shoots, but 95% of my couples trust my professional opinion. Couples are provided a style guide through the process as well to help decide on colors, matching styles and what to avoid.
Favorite advice for a proposal shoot? PLAN AHEAD OF TIME! If you are hiring a photographer for your surprise proposal, be aware of things like weather and access to the area you are proposing at. For example, proposing at Disney may require more planning, security time, tickets etc. A photographer will use their “big lens” to be able to be far away but still capture the full picture and stay hidden. It is not about you as a photographer, but the moment for the couple. Best advice? Know what your significant other likes, what is important to them for that moment. Ask them in advance! YES, PLANNERS CAN HELP!
I don’t have a large budget, what is the best way to get the most bang for my photography buck? If budget is an issue, be okay with prioritizing and compromising with a package. There is a reason why things are priced the way they are. Get a quality photographer and photos! Skip the extras! Meet with your professionals and know what you are willing to negotiate on and what is most important to you. TIP: If you need to cut hours, it is better to get the beginning of your day captured (getting ready, first looks etc) rather than the last few hours of dancing.
